Beary Good Friends

Child Care Super proudly sponsored the 2011 Australian Child Care Week.  We wanted to show our commitment and support for the childcare industry, and give our appreciation and acknowledgment to those who dedicate their careers to help care for and educate our young children.

What a fun-filled week it was!  With the help of Sam the Child Care Super Bear, centres conducted activities that involved children and their Beary Good Friends – soft cuddly toys that children love. From teddy bears picnics to international bear and career bear days – it was wonderful  to see so many centres get  involved.

While Child Care Week is over for another year, we want to make sure Beary Good Friends lives on.  You can always conduct a Beary Good Friends activity in your centre any time you want.  It's easy – all you need to do is print out the invitations and poster, tell your children to bring in their Beary Good Friends and conduct your activity.

Check out some of the activities other centres have done with their Beary Good Friends:

If you would like your very own Sam the Child Care Super Bear to join in the fun – just call us today on 1300 365 899.

Throw a themed party and get children to bring in their Beary Good Friends (any soft toy they love) dressed for the occasion. For example, pyjamas, disco or tea party.

Organise a "What I want to do when I grow up" day at the centre and invite children to bring in their Beary Good Friends to talk about their career aspirations. Invite families and other members of the community to participate and share stories of their current jobs.

Use dance and music to put together a short film or slide show of Beary Good Friend puppet show.

Encourage multiculturalism across the centre by organising an international Beary Good Friend day. Children to bring their Beary Good Friend dressed from around the world and get them to talk about the countries they represent.

Ask the children to take their Beary Good Friend on an adventure over the weekend. You can then have a 'show and share' morning where they bring their Beary Good Friend in and a drawing or photo of them on their adventure together, and tell the group all about it.

Get children to paint or colour an image of our Beary Good Friend Sam bear, and build a collage in the centre. Or, alternatively get them to draw their own Beary Good Friend. Download the colouring page of Sam bear.

Write a song or poem about your childhood teddy friend.
