What do I have to do?

Answering the following questions will help you work out what you have to do now and whether you can use Child Care Super as your default fund:

Is your current default fund included in your industry's modern award?

The Child Care Super has been named in the Children’s Services Award 2010.

So if you employ staff under this Award and currently use Child Care Super as your default fund you don’t need to do anything at all. You can continue to pay your employer contributions to Child Care Super for all of your current and future employees.

If you employ staff under this Award and don’t currently use Child Care Super as your default fund you may like to consider choosing the Fund as your default fund.

If you are not already registered with Child Care Super, you just need to:

  1. Register by completing an Employer Application form (includes PDS)
  2. Change the Choice of Superannuation Fund form you give to your new employees to show Child Care Super as your default fund. Then, if they don't choose their own fund, you can pay their contributions to Child Care Super.
  3. Give all your current employees who wish to join the Child Care Super Choice of Superannuation Fund form for them to sign and return to you. You keep this form for your records.

If you are already registered with Child Care Super, just:

  1. Change the Choice of Superannuation Fund form you give to your new employees to show Child Care Super as your default fund. Then, if they don't choose their own fund, you can pay their contributions to Child Care Super.
  2. Give all your current employees who wish to join the Child Care Super Choice of Superannuation Fund form for them to sign and return to you. You keep this form for your records.

If you employ staff under a Modern Award other than the Children’s Services Award can you still contribute to Child Care Super?

YES. There are two ways you can do this.

  1. If you’ve contributed to Child Care Super at any time prior to 12 September 2008 you can nominate the Fund as your default fund and continue to pay to the Fund for your current and future employees.

Just provide your new employees with an Child Care Super Choice of Superannuation Fund form when they start working for you. If they don't choose their own fund, you can then pay their contributions to Child Care Super.

Click here to speak to your local Superannuation Consultant to have them help you make the arrangements.
  2. If you started contributing to Child Care Super after 12 September 2008 you can still contribute for current and future employees so long as each employee completes a Choice of Superannuation Fund Form indicating they would like you to pay their superannuation contributions to the Fund.
